Weekend update

So....who was at Chapters last night to get the Harry Potter book? I was! I think its weird, when I read book five I had it finished in two days, I loved it. This one, I'm on page 120 and I just can't get into it. Maybe its because I've been looking forward to it for long and had such high expectations. I'm sure it will get better though. I'll keep you posted.

Weekend plans. Yesterday was the firm Summer Party. It started with lunch at 12:30 (Pizza and East Indian...mmm...samosas...yummy!) then at 1:30 we broke off into out teams and did a pub crawl scavenger hunt with a member from the social commitee as the leader and a partner as our "chaperone" who had the money and bought the drinks. We started out with a clue for the first bar and had to guess where and then at that location we had some drinks and had to get two souveniers before we got our next clue. The bars we went to were:

1. The Jolly Taxpayer
2. The Cambie Hostel (Shudder....so very skanky...)
3. The Irish Heather (really nice atmosphere and live celtic music)
4. The Kingston Tappas Pub
5. The Loose Moose (Our clue was "A slutty Bullwinkle")
6. The Morrisey
7. Carlos and Buds (mmmmm....sangria and mojitos)

It started out kinda lame, we took coasters and posters for upcoming bands. Then the more we drank the funnier things got. At the Kingston they were doing a pre-game show for the BC Lions game, I convinced the DJ-type guy to send the senior partner an email inviting him to be a VIP guest on the show as one of our souveniers. Eventually our "chaperone" got some hilarious ideas and we walked out of the Moose with a tap head for Okanagan Springs Pale Ale.

The pub crawl ended with dinner at the Granville Island hotel where I had to sit across from the new drunk male paralegal. He had like 8 beers during dinner! And kept making everyone uncomofortable. Very annoying. I eventually started leaving with Annalee for her smoke breaks just to get away from him.

A few more glasses of pinot blanc later and I went home and tried to not act loaded at Chapters. I think it worked because it was replaced by Potter-mania.

Fun times.

Kevin is at a Golf tourney today. So I've been reading and doing yoga. Tonight is cards at Jon and Lindsey's. Yay!
